The Discipline Analytics screen provides a comprehensive view of student discipline data across the selected school(s) and applied filters. Users can analyze referral trends, infractions, locations, actions, and outcomes through interactive charts and summary metrics. The report also includes demographic breakdowns, allowing users to identify patterns across student groups and monitor behavior trends over time to support data-informed decision-making.
This feature requires the purchase of the add-on Analytics module.
1. In the Discipline menu, click Discipline Analytics.
2. Select the All Schools check box to run the Discipline Analytics reports for all schools in the district. When selected, the report updates to include discipline data across all accessible schools and may display additional school-level breakdowns, such as By School Level, By School Type, By Region, and By School.
3. Select the metric from the pull-down to determine how discipline data is calculated and displayed throughout the report. Available options include:
- Number of Referrals: Displays the total number of discipline referrals for the selected data set.
- Students with Referrals: Displays the number of unique students with at least one referral.
- Results in ISS: Displays the number of referrals that resulted in In-School Suspension (ISS).
- Results in OSS: Displays the number of referrals that resulted in Out-of-School Suspension (OSS).
- Length in ISS: Displays the average duration of In-School Suspension (ISS) assignments.
- Length in OSS: Displays the average duration of Out-of-School Suspension (OSS) assignments.
- Students with 3+ Referrals: Displays the number of students with three or more referrals.
- Students with 5+ Referrals: Displays the number of students with five or more referrals.
- Students with OSS: Displays the number of students who have received at least one Out-of-School Suspension (OSS).
4. Select from the following options to determine which reports are displayed. Each selection generates a report (such as Infractions, Locations, or Actions) that displays discipline data based on the selected metric:
- Infractions: Generates a report displaying discipline data grouped by infraction type.
- Locations: Generates a report displaying discipline data grouped by incident location.
- Reporter: Generates a report displaying discipline data grouped by the user responsible for reporting the incident/referral.
- Actions: Generates a report displaying discipline data grouped by disciplinary action (e.g., ISS, OSS).
- Action Length: Generates a report displaying discipline data grouped by the duration of actions.
- By Month: Generates a report displaying discipline trends over time by month.
- By Day of Week: Generates a report displaying discipline trends by day of the week.
- By Region: Generates a report displaying discipline data grouped by district-defined region.
- By School Type: Generates a report displaying discipline data grouped by school type.
- By School Level: Generates a report displaying discipline data grouped by school level.
- By School: Generates a report displaying discipline data grouped by individual school.
- Grade Level: Generates a report displaying discipline data grouped by student grade level.
- Ethnicity: Generates a report displaying discipline data grouped by student ethnicity.
- Primary Exceptionality: Generates a report displaying discipline data grouped by primary exceptionality
- Gender: Generates a report displaying discipline data grouped by student gender.
- Lunch Status: Generates a report displaying discipline data grouped by lunch status.
- Gifted: Generates a report displaying discipline data grouped by gifted status.
- 504: Generates a report displaying discipline data grouped by Section 504 status.
- IEP: Generates a report displaying discipline data grouped by IEP status.
- ELL: Generates a report displaying discipline data grouped by English Language Learner (ELL) status..
5. Select option(s) from the pull-down to determine how discipline data is grouped and displayed throughout the report. Available options include:
- Action/Disposition Code: Displays data grouped by assigned referral action or disposition codes.
- Additional Discipline Codes: Displays data grouped by additional discipline codes assigned to referrals.
- Bus Driver: Displays data grouped by the associated bus driver entered on the referral.
- Context: Displays data grouped by referral context information.
- Hate Related Offense (Level 3 and Above only): Displays referrals identified as hate-related offenses for Level 3 and above incidents.
- Highest Discipline Code: Displays data grouped by the highest discipline code associated with the referral.
- Involved in Bullying: Displays data grouped by whether the referral involved bullying.
- Offense: Displays data grouped by referral offense type.
- Possible Motivation: Displays data grouped by the possible motivation associated with the incident.
- Reported to Law Enforcement: Displays data grouped by whether the incident was reported to law enforcement.
- Student Provided Statement: Displays data grouped by whether a student statement was provided.
- Teacher Recommendation Action: Displays data grouped by the teacher-recommended action on the referral.
- Time Frame: Displays data grouped by the selected reporting timeframe.
- Use of Alcohol: Displays data grouped by incidents involving alcohol use.
- Use of Drugs: Displays data grouped by incidents involving drug use.
- Weapon Use: Displays data grouped by incidents involving weapon use.
Available data and results depend on the district's Discipline Referral setup, configured referral fields, and referral coding practices. Some options may not display data if the corresponding referral fields are not used or populated by the district.
6. Option 1:The report automatically runs for all students in the selected school (school selected in the header pull-down). To view the report for all students, continue to the next step where you can set additional report filters.
6. Option 2: To run the report for individual student(s), be sure the Student icon is selected, then select the applicable students from the pull-down.
6. Option 3: Select the Student Group icon and select the student group(s) from the pull-down to run the report for select students assigned to the student group(s).
7. Click the settings icon to add numbers, percentages, and to sort data visuals alphabetically.
a. Select the Display Numbers check box to display numeric values directly on supported charts and graph visuals.
b. Select the Display Percentages check box to display percentage values on supported charts and graph visuals.
c. Select the Sort Alphabetically check box to sort chart labels and visual data categories alphabetically. When cleared, visuals return to their original data order.
The report displays Referrals, Students with Referrals, ISS, OSS, Avg OSS Length, and Avg ISS Length. The report also displays counts for key incident categories, including Safety Incidents, Bullying, Drugs, Alcohol, and Arrests.
Based on the selections made, you wil see different reports:
Infractions and Locations:
Hover over any bar in the report to view the value for the selected metric (e.g., Tardy to Class 062, 108). The value displayed depends on the selected metric; for example, when Students with Referrals is selected, 108 represents the number of students who received a referral as a result of being Tardy to Class.
Actions and Action Length (Days):
Hover over any bar in the report to view the value for the selected metric (e.g., Phone Conference 038, 127). The value displayed depends on the selected metric; for example, when Number of Referrals is selected, 127 represents the number referrals processed that resulted in a Phone Conference.
By Month and By Day of Week:
Hover over any bar in the report to view the value for the selected metric (e.g., Monday, 192). The value displayed depends on the selected metric; for example, when Number of Referrals is selected, 192 represents the number of referrals that were processed on a Monday.
Reporter and Locations:
Hover over any bar in the report to view the value for the selected metric (e.g., Posada, Aria, 2). The value displayed depends on the selected metric; for example, when Number of Referrals is selected, 2 represents the number of referrals that were reported by Aria Posada.
The following reports display with All Schools selected:
School Breakdown:
- By Region: Generates a report displaying discipline data grouped by district-defined regions.
- By School Type: Generates a report displaying discipline data grouped by school type (e.g., traditional, charter, magnet).
- By School Level: Generates a report displaying discipline data grouped by school level (e.g., elementary, middle, high).
- By School: Generates a report displaying discipline data grouped by individual school.
Hover over any bar in the report to view the value for the selected metric (e.g., H- High, 510). The value displayed depends on the selected metric; for example, when Number of Referrals is selected, 510 represents the number of students who received a referral in high school.
The following Student Demographic Breakdown reports display based on your selection made: Grade Level, Ethnicity, Primary Exceptionality, Gender, Lunch Status, Gifted, 504, IEP, and ELL.
Hover over any bar in the report to view the value for the selected metric (e.g., Grade Level 11, 2.3%). The value displayed depends on the selected metric; for example, when Number of Referrals is selected, 2.3% of students in 11th grade who have referrals.
The last report is broken down by student and includes the following columns (including any filters selected to generate all reports): Student name, Student Id, Infraction, Location, Incident Date, Month, Day of Week, Reporter, School, ISS, OSS, ISS Length, OSS Length, Arrest, Action/Disposition Code, Additional Discipline Codes, Bus Driver, Context, etc.
8. Click Referral to open the referral via the Referrals screen.
9. Click the Student name to open Student Info.
The Discipline Analytics reports are interactive. Clicking on any data point or metric (such as a bar in a chart) updates all reports, KPIs, and tables to reflect the selected criteria, allowing you to quickly refine and explore attendance data.
1. In the Discipline menu, click Discipline Analytics.
2. Follow the steps provided in The Discipline Analytics Report then follow the steps below to customize each of the reports.
3. When viewing any of the demographic reports listed above, click a bar in the chart to filter the data. All reports displayed, such as the Actions report, regenerates to reflect the selected criteria. In this example, the reports are currently filtered to display data for the Cheating infraction.
4. To update the reports, click a demographic value in any chart, such as Black in the Ethnicity report. This applies a filter and refreshes all reports to display data only for the selected group. Any previously applied filters (such as Infraction: Cheating) will remain in place until cleared.
5. To remove a filter from the grades reports, click the applied filter again, such as Cheating in Infraction. The selection is cleared, the bar returns to light blue, and all reports update to display all infractions.

You can add as many filters as you'd like and clear them as you go to customize discipline reports.

6. Click Clear Filters to remove all filters at once.
1. In the Discipline menu, click Discipline Analytics.
2. Apply all report filters and generate the report. See The Discipline Analytics Report for details.
3. Click the Print icon.
4. Follow your computer's prompts to print the report.
