The FAST Report is designed to provide detailed insights into student progress in either ELA or Math, including End-of-Course (EOC) exams. It displays key summary metrics such as Total Students, Passing %, Gain %, Gain, Low Percentile, and Above Grade Level, along with breakdowns by Performance Measure (PM1PM3) and school year where applicable.
The report includes demographic breakdown charts and school-level summaries that display average Overall Scale Scores and performance metrics. Growth is indicated using color-coded values, where positive growth is highlighted in green and negative growth is shown in red.
Users can select a school to view school-specific results and student lists. From the student-level view, users can review individual Overall Scale Scores, Achievement Levels (when available), and indicator-based results such as Gain and L30.
The report also supports configuration options such as a decimal value for the Low Percentile Cut Off in grading preferences and excludes students who have withdrawn from the district.
The FAST Report does not return results for schools marked as Exclude from State Reporting via Setup > School Info.
The "FAST Report Low Percentile" system preference is a configurable setting that determines the threshold for low performance in the FAST Report, enabled via Setup > System Preferences > Default School Preferences > Grading tab. By default, this setting is set to 30. This means that students whose performance falls below the 30th percentile are considered to be in the low-performance category. This setting allows schools to customize the threshold based on their specific grading standards and requirements. The decimal support in this setting provides further precision, enabling more accurate categorization and reporting of student performance.
1. In the Assessment menu, click FAST Report.
2. Select the Subject from the pull-down: ELA or Math.
3. Select the Schools from the pull-down that should be included in the report. The pull-down defaults to All schools.
4. Select the Show Growth check box to display year-over-year growth throughout the report. When selected:
School Level:
- Displays growth amounts next to the average overall Scale Scores for each Performance Measure (PM).
- Displays growth indicators on the KPI summary cards, highlighting positive growth in green and negative growth in red.
- Makes it easy to compare current-year performance to the prior year at a glance.
Student Level:
- When a school is selected, displays each student's growth based on overall Scale Scores.
- When an individual student is selected, updates the KPI summary cards to display that student's performance and growth information, along with a detailed score breakdown.
- Positive growth is displayed in green and negative growth in red.
If the Show Growth check box is unchecked, the report will only display the average overall Scale Scores and Achievement Levels (if possible) without the growth amounts and their color-coded indicators.

5. Select the Show Inactive check box to include inactive students in the report.
6. Click Pivot to add additional columns to the reports: options include: Grade Level, Lunch Status, Race, ELL, ESE, 504, L30, and more.
a. In the Pivot pop-up window, select the data to include in the report, such as Grade Level, Lunch Status, Race, ELL, ESE, etc. Score Type is hard-coded into the report; therefore, it cannot be unselected.
b. To rearrange the columns of student information as it will display in the report, click the four dot icon and drag the field to move it. In the example shown, ELL is being moved to the top.
c. When finished, click Done.
If clicking Pivot and adding data after the report has already been ran, you must click Submit to update the report.
Below is an example of the report with L30 and Grade Level added (from the Pivot table, as shown above).
7. Click Submit to run the report.
The report displays the following summary metrics:
- Total Students: Displays the total number of students included in the report.
- % Passing: Displays the percentage of students who achieved a passing score.
- Passing: Displays the total number of students who achieved a passing score.
- % Gain: Displays the percentage of students who demonstrated growth from the previous assessment.
- Gain: Displays the total number of students who demonstrated growth from the previous assessment.
- Low Percentile: Displays the number of students performing in the lowest percentile range.
- Above Grade Level: Displays the number of students performing above their current grade level.
Review the report, which includes the School Name, Passing %, and Total Students, followed by Gain %, Passing %, Achievement Level, and Scale Score for each selected school year. Each of these categories includes columns for Performance Measures (PM1-PM3) and a Total.
The report also displays Student Demographic Breakdown charts, including Grade Level, Ethnicity, Primary Exceptionality, Gender, Lunch Status, Gifted, IEP, and ELL.
Hover over any data point in the demographic charts to view additional details, such as the demographic category, the selected metric, and its corresponding value. For example, hovering over Grade Level 04 displays the passing percentage for students in Grade 4, such as Passing: 60%.
8. Click the School name to open a new school-specific student report that includes student ID, Student name, Grade Level, Lunch Status, Race, ELL, ESE, 504, L30, Percentile rank per school year, Survey 2/3 Match, Tested Above Grade, Gain, Achievement Level, Growth, and Scale Score.
a. Hover over the Legend for information about the Grade Levels and the applicable achievement levels.
b. Click the student ID or Student name to open a FAST report for the specific student.
The student FAST report displays the all the same information as listed above, as well as the Test Part names including the Test Part names and their corresponding Achievement Levels and Scale Scores by school year.
i. Hover over the Legend for information about the Grade Levels and the applicable achievement levels.
ii. Click the student ID number or Student name to open Student Info.
9. Click the white Xs to close each pop-up report and return to the main Fast Report.
Report Details
Achievement Level: This is designed to show the proficiency of a student based on their test scores. This can range from Level 1 (lowest proficiency) to Level 5 (highest proficiency). The report aims to highlight whether a student is meeting or exceeding the expected proficiency standards. Typically, Level 2 and above (Level 2+) are considered proficient or on grade level.
Gain: Gain represents student improvement in scale score performance over time. It is typically calculated between Performance Measures (PM1PM3) or across school years by subtracting the previous scale score from the current scale score, where positive values indicate improvement and negative values indicate a decline.
In the report, Gain is displayed in two formats: Gain % and Gain (numeric value). These values can be viewed by school year and by Performance Measure (PM1-PM3), as well as in a total Gain column.
In the FAST Report, Gain is displayed by category and Performance Measure (PM1-PM3) using icons: a green check mark indicates the student demonstrated growth, and a red X indicates no growth or a decline. In the student-level report, Gain is displayed as a black check mark indicator to show that the student-level record includes Gain status for the section, rather than showing a performance comparison indicator.
Scale Score: This is the numerical score that represents a student's performance on the test. It is used to determine the achievement level and growth.
Percentile: This indicates how a student's performance compares to others. For example, a student in the 75th percentile performed better than 75% of their peers.
Tested Above Grade Level: This column indicates if a student took a test that is above their current grade level. Data is entered here when a student participates in assessments meant for higher grade levels than their own. This comes from the testing records that specify the grade level of the test taken compared to the student’s current grade level.
L30: The L30 column identifies students in the lowest 30 percent of the student population based on prior year state assessment scores. A 30th percentile cutoff is calculated, and all students with scores at or below this threshold are included in the report.
The data previously displayed in the L25 Report is now presented in the Lower 30% (L30) section of the FAST Report. Once the Survey 3 O-File is available, the report automatically updates to reflect official L25 values.
Before the Survey 3 O-File: If the current years Survey 3 data is not yet available in the florida_demographic_ofile table, the FAST Report displays L30 data by default.
After the Survey 3 O-File: When the O-File is available, the report updates to display official L25 values.
In the student-level view, L30 is displayed as an indicator (checkmark) to show whether a student falls within the lowest 30% group, rather than displaying a numeric value.
ELA L25 / Math L25: Displays students who were identified as being in the lowest 25 percent based on the prior year's PM3 assessment and who have matching Survey 2 and Survey 3 O-File data. The column label reflects the selected FAST Report subject (ELA or Math) to distinguish it from the configurable L25/L30 low percentile column.
Survey 2/3 Match: (Previously called Affects School Grade): A check mark displays if the student is listed in the O-file for this school during survey periods 2 and 3.
If Survey 3 has not passed, the column header changes to Survey 2 Match, and students with Survey 2 data are marked with a checkmark. Students without Survey 2 data show no checkmark. If Survey 3 exists, the column remains Survey 2/3 Match, and only students with data in both Survey 2 and Survey 3 receive a checkmark.
Tested Above Grade: This column identifies students who have taken an assessment that is above their current grade level. This column helps identify students who may be performing at a higher level than their current grade by showing those who have been tested on content designed for a higher grade level.
