Inclusion
- Inclusion is for students receiving in-class support.
- An inclusion section is attached to the primary section. It is created in Courses & Sections using the Inclusion tab on the primary section.
- To manually schedule a student into an inclusion section, first schedule the student into the primary section. Then select the Inclusion check box on the section and click Save.
- To automatically schedule a student into an inclusion section based on requests, select the "Inclusion" check box on the request in Student Requests. When the student is scheduled, the system will look for sections that were set up with an inclusion section in Courses & Sections, and will only schedule the student into the section with an inclusion section attached. If there are no inclusion sections attached to the primary section, the student will not be scheduled into the course.
- The Students with Inclusion report can also be used to schedule students into inclusion.
Pull-out
- Pull-out sections are for students who leave the traditional classroom to receive extra instruction or therapies.
- A pull-out section is created as its own section with the "Pull-out" check box selected in the Florida tab of Courses & Sections. The Scheduling Method should also be set to "G - Individual or Small Group Instruction" in the Florida tab on the pull-out section.
- To manually schedule a student into a pull-out section, use the normal procedure for manually adding a section to a student's schedule. The pull-out section must be placed in a period where the student already has a section scheduled or there will be an FTE minutes issue.
- The inclusion section's Class Minutes Weekly on the student's schedule record will pull from the "Inclusion Minutes Weekly" setup in the Inclusion tab on the section in Courses & Sections.
- If no minutes were added to the inclusion section in Courses & Sections, then the inclusion section will have 0 minutes on the schedule record and the primary section (S section) will have its normal number of minutes.
- If minutes were added to the inclusion section in Courses & Sections, then the minutes on the inclusion schedule record will display this number. The minutes on the associated S section will be the S weekly minutes minus the inclusion weekly minutes.
- If the inclusion section is removed from the student or the student is dropped from the inclusion section, the minutes are added back to the S section.
- When the Class Weekly Minutes on the Inclusion section are edited on the Student Schedule, the Class Weekly Minutes will adjust on the S section to match the total minutes defined in the course_periods table.
- If the system preference "Do not subtract minutes when using the Inclusion tab" is enabled in Setup > System Preferences > Scheduling tab, the number of minutes set in Inclusion Minutes Weekly on inclusion sections are not subtracted from the Class Minutes Weekly on the associated section.
If the system preference "Automatically update schedule class minutes for associated periods when Pull-out schedules are added, changed, or removed" is enabled in Setup > System Preferences > Scheduling tab, the Class Minutes Weekly field on the non-pull-out section is automatically updated when a pull-out section is added to the student's schedule for the same period. If the pull-out section's Class Weekly Minutes is updated or the pull-out section is removed from the student's schedule, then the associated section's Class Minutes Weekly will also update accordingly. If this preference is not enabled, the Class Minutes Weekly will need to be manually adjusted on the pull-out and associated section.
When an inclusion section and pull-out section are scheduled in the same period as a primary section, the following will occur:
- Adding an inclusion section to a student's schedule or adjusting the inclusion Class Weekly Minutes on a student's schedule will automatically adjust the Class Weekly Minutes on the primary section. It will not affect the pull-out section's Class Minutes Weekly.
- Adding a pull-out section or adjusting the pull-out section's Class Weekly Minutes on a student's schedule will automatically adjust the Class Weekly Minutes on the primary section. It will not affect the inclusion section's Class Minutes Weekly.
- Adjusting the Class Weekly Minutes on the primary section will not adjust the Class Weekly Minutes on the inclusion section or pull-out section.
Updating the Inclusion Minutes Weekly on an inclusion section in Courses & Sections or the Master Schedule Report will update the Class Minutes Weekly for the inclusion section on the student schedule if the current value is null or matches the previous value set on the inclusion section.
Updating the Class Minutes Weekly on a primary section or pull-out section will not affect existing student schedules.
