1. In the Setup menu, click Site Administration.
2. Click the Focus Settings tab.
3. Select the check box for any applicable settings to automatically enable the setting throughout Focus.

Display Focus Setting changes in update log: When this setting is enabled, changes made to the Focus settings in Setup > Site Administration > Focus Settings tab are included in the Update Log at the bottom of the screen.

Enable Learnosity: The Enable Learnosity setting enables the Learnosity version of the add-on Assessments module. This includes the following screens and functionalities:
- Create Questions (Admin, Teacher): This screen is used to create questions to be included on assessments students will complete in Focus, printed assessments, or assessments with bubble sheets.
- Create Assessments (Admin, Teacher): This screen allows administrators and teachers to create and configure assessments (AKA activities).
- District Assessments (Admin, Teacher): This screen is used to assign district assessments to students, print and upload bubble sheets, update the grading scale of assessments, set options for answer key only assessments, review assessment reports, push assessment scores to Test History, and re-score assessments.
- Bubble Sheets (Admin): This screen is used to mass upload bubble sheets.
- Teacher Assessments (Teacher): This screen is used to assign teachers' assessments to students, print and upload bubble sheets, update the grading scale of assessments, set options for answer key only assessments, review assessment reports, and push assessment scores to Test History.
- Teachers can attach assessments to Gradebook assignments, review and score submitted assessments in the Gradebook, and view assessment reports in the Gradebook. See Create Assessments (Teacher) for more information.
- Students can complete assessments within Focus, as well as view their scores and comments for assessments assigned by their teacher. See Online Assessments for more information.
Enable Exam Spark: The Enable Exam Spark setting enables the Exam Spark version of the add-on Assessments module. This module is still in development.
Enable Item Bank: The Enable Item Bank setting enables the add-on item bank for use within the Assessments module. The item bank includes thousands of questions that are set up and ready for use on assessments. See Create Assessments (Admin) or Create Assessment (Teacher) for more information.

Enable Before/After Care: The Enable Before/After Care setting enables the following screens:
- Extended Day Credit: Allows users to apply credits to student accounts for Before/After Care during school closures.
- Modify Programs: Lets users maintain and customize program data, which is year-specific and linked to Scheduling > Courses & Sections. This data is used for IPEDS reporting, the Financial Aid worksheet, and influences the programs available in the SAP Minimum Requirements and Student Academic Reports.
- Before/After Care Tax Statement: Enables the generation and viewing of tax statements for 1098T eligible transactions related to Before/After Care services.
Enable Adult / CTE:
Enable Document Management: This setting enables the Document Management add-on module. When this setting is enabled, the "Academic Record Category" can be set for the following items:
- File Upload fields in Students > Student Fields
- File Upload fields in Users > User Fields
- Letters/emails in Students > Print Letters & Send Email
- Messages in Students > Communication
- Forms in Setup > Form Builder
- SSS events in SSS > Setup > Events
Items that are set up with an Academic Record Category display on the Uploaded Files screen for students or the Uploaded Files screen for users. Additionally, published report cards and transcripts are included on the Uploaded Files screen for students. Keywords and phrases can be redacted from student or user files.
While the Uploaded Files Report for students and users is available for all districts, the Academic Record Category search field is only included on the student Uploaded Files Report and user Uploaded Files Report for districts with Document Management enabled.
Districts with Document Management enabled also have access to the Import Student Files and Import Staff Files screens, which are used to mass upload files into student and user fields.
SSS/Formbuilder Export Site: (This is only used by Focus employees for testing purposes) This enables editing and saving Focus-controlled forms in the Focus Forms tab of the Form Builder. In addition, this setting enables the Export Builder screen in the SSS module. Once enabled, the user must have View and Edit profile permissions for the Export Builder.
Enable SSS: This setting enables the Special Student Services (SSS) module for the Focus site. Each individual program within SSS is enabled by its own setting. See below.
Enable SSS - IEP Program: This setting enables the IEP program within the SSS module. This program will not be available in Manage Student unless this setting is enabled.
Enable SSS - 504 Program: This setting enables the 504 program within the SSS module. This program will not be available in Manage Student unless this setting is enabled.
Enable SSS - RTI Program: This setting enables the RTI program within the SSS module. This program will not be available in Manage Student unless this setting is enabled.
Enable SSS - Threat Assessment Program: This setting enables the Threat Assessment program within the SSS module. This program will not be available in Manage Student unless this setting is enabled.
Enable SSS - MTSS Program: This setting enables the MTSS program within the SSS module. This program will not be available in Manage Student unless this setting is enabled.
Enable SSS - Mental Wellness Program: This setting enables the Mental Wellness program within the SSS module. This program will not be available in Manage Student unless this setting is enabled.
Enable SSS - Medical Program: This setting enables the Medical program within the SSS module. This program will not be available in Manage Student unless this setting is enabled.
Enable SSS - Student Services: This setting enables the Student Services program within the SSS module. This program will not be available in Manage Student unless this setting is enabled.
Enable SSS - ELL: This setting enables the ELL program within the SSS module. This program will not be available in Manage Student unless this setting is enabled.
Enable SSS - HOPE: This setting enables the HOPE program within the SSS module. This program will not be available in Manage Student unless this setting is enabled.
Enable SSS - Gifted: This setting enables the Gifted program within the SSS module. This program will not be available in Manage Student unless this setting is enabled.
Enable SSS - RSP: This setting enables the RSP program within the SSS module. This program will not be available in Manage Student unless this setting is enabled.
Enable SSS - Add Programs & Events: This setting enables the ability for districts to create their own SSS programs in SSS > Setup > Programs tab. Districts can also create their own events in SSS > Setup > Events tab within the programs that they have purchased or the programs that they have created. When this setting is disabled, districts cannot create their own programs, and can only create events within the programs they have purchased.
Callout - Extended SMS:
When Disabled: SMS messages follow the standard system character limits.
When Enabled:
- Users can compose SMS messages up to 300 characters directly.
- If a message exceeds the 300-character threshold (minus space reserved for the district abbreviation and tiny URL), Focus will automatically generate a tiny URL.
- The tiny URL links recipients to the full message content, ensuring that nothing is lost due to carrier SMS restrictions.
Enable Call Out System: This setting enabled Communication AI for administrative users (works with the profile permission). This setting includes a Magic Wand and an AI Assistant to enhance text within the communication system for Teachers (works with the profile permission), providing options such as improving writing, summarizing, or generating new content based on user inputs. This setting works in conjunction with the system preference/setting Use Original Text Editor for Communication, which must be disabled in order to use the new CKEditor for the Communication module via Setup > System Preferences > Default School Preferences > General tab. Enable Vonage: Toggles the Vonage SMS integration on or off. When enabled, Focus uses the configured Vonage credentials and phone numbers to send text messages through the Communication module.
Vonage Private Key: A secure credential provided by Vonage that is used to authenticate Focus with the Vonage API.
Vonage Application Id: Unique identifier for district's Vonage application. Together with the Private Key, it ensures Focus connects to the correct Vonage account.
Vonage SMS Short Code: The district's designated short code number for sending SMS. This number is used when a 10DLC number is inactive or unavailable.

Mobile App - Disable SSO on iOS: When this setting is enabled, all SSO login options are disabled on the iOS version of the mobile app.
Enable Applicant Tracking:
Enable School Choice: The Enable School Choice setting enables the School Choice module, which includes the following screens and functionalities:
- School Choice Setup (Admin): This screen allows administrators to set up and customize the School Choice, Magnet, and Special Placement programs and applications.
- Tours and Auditions (Admin): This screen allows administrators to enter and track the required tours and auditions completed by students for School Choice, Magnet, or Special Placement applications.
- Run Lottery (Admin): This screen allows administrators to run the lottery for student placement into programs.
- School Choice Reports (Admin): This screen allows administrators to review and edit student application information and application statuses, recalculate student priority values, and review available seats in programs.
- Print Letters (Admin): This screen allows administrators to print and email application status notification letters.
- School Choice Application (Admin, Parent): This screen allows administrators and parents to submit School Choice applications for students.
- Magnet Application (Admin, Parent): This screen allows administrators and parents to submit Magnet applications for students.
- Special Placement Application (Admin, Parent): This screen allows administrators and parents to submit Special Placement applications for students.
- Magnet/Special Assignment (Admin): This screen allows administrators to view and modify a student's School Choice, Magnet, or Special Placement application information. Additionally, a singular lottery or sibling lottery can be run using the Evaluate Placement functionality.
- School Choice (Parent): This screen allows parents to view the status of the School Choice, Magnet, or Special Placement application that was submitted for the student, as well as accept or cancel the application.

Hall Pass: The Hall Pass setting enables the add-on Hall Pass module for the selected schools. This includes the following screens and functionalities:
- Hall Pass Setup (Admin): This screen allows district and school administrators to set up the attendance codes, attendance pass limit, location categories, locations, and restrictions for the Hall Pass module.
- Hall Passes (Admin, Teacher, Parent/Student): This screen allows administrators and teachers to create hall passes, and track active, requested, upcoming, inactive, and scheduled hall passes. Parents and students can view current, past, and future hall passes, and students can initiate hall passes.
- Hall Pass Trends (Admin): The Hall Pass Trends report provides administrators with detailed insights into hall pass usage. This report helps track student activity by allowing users to drill down into specific data, aiding in monitoring the school environment.
- Hall Passes tab within Student Info (Admin and Teacher): The Hall Passes tab in Student Info allows administrators and teachers to create hall passes for the student, view hall pass activity in a specified date range for the student, and set restrictions on the student.
- Hall Passes in the mobile app (Admin, Teacher, Parent/Student): Administrators and teachers can create hall passes for students, and review active, requested, upcoming, inactive, and scheduled hall passes. Parents can view their student's hall passes for the current date. Students can initiate hall passes, and view their current and inactive hall passes.
- Hall Passes in the kiosk (Admin): In the kiosk, students can check and out of hall pass locations.
Enable Upgrading Applications & Auth:
ModerationAPI: The ModerationAPI setting is an add-on feature that automatically scans student messages for harmful content, such as Toxicity, Self-Harm, and Violence. When enabled, messages in Communication flagged as potentially harmful are removed from the recipient's view and logged in the Threat Messages report for administrative review. This report provides a centralized location to monitor flagged messages and take appropriate action. The ModerationAPI setting works in conjunction with both Communication and Communication Reports.
AI in Comms for Teachers: This setting includes a Magic Wand and an AI Assistant to enhance text within the communication system for Teachers (works with the profile permission), providing options such as improving writing, summarizing, or generating new content based on user inputs. This setting works in conjunction with the system preference/setting Use Original Text Editor for Communication, which must be disabled in order to use the new CKEditor for the Communication module via Setup > System Preferences > Default School Preferences > General tab. System is enabled in Focus Settings.
Puppeteer PDF's Report Cards and Transcripts: When this setting is enabled, Puppeteer is used to generate PDFs for report cards and transcripts instead of PhantomJS.
Puppeteer PDF's Communication and Print Letters: When this setting is enabled, Puppeteer is used to generate PDFs for Communication and Print Letters & Send Email instead of PhantomJS.
Puppeteer PDF's ERP: When this setting is enabled, Puppeteer is used to generate PDFs in ERP instead of PhantomJS.
Puppeteer PDF's (All others): When this setting is enabled, Puppeteer is used to generate PDFs in all other areas of Focus instead of PhantomJS.
Puppeteer Queue: When this setting is enabled, the Puppeteer queue is used for PDFs. The queue runs as a background task, and starts when PDFs are requested. There is only one queue active at one time per server instance. The queue will process the number of PDFs based on either the "Puppeteer PDF Jobs" setting in Focus Settings or the number of CPUs on the machine divided by 2. When the queue has finished processing all PDFs, the queue will turn off, and when new PDFs are requested, the queue will turn back on. One-off PDFs will bypass the queue. When this setting is disabled, one-off PDFs are still generated using Puppeteer but the queue is not used.
Puppeteer Logging:
Puppeteer PDF Jobs: Used in conjunction with the "Puppeteer Queue" setting; enter the number of PDFs to process in the queue.
Enable Time & Attendance: The Enable Time & Attendance setting enables the following screens:
- Time & Attendance Setup: This screen allows users to configure settings for tracking employee work hours, including schedules, special requests, and overtime rates. It helps monitor clock-in/out times, travel, late arrivals, breaks, and absenteeism, while reducing errors and overpayments from inaccurate time tracking.
- Time & Attendance Approval: This screen allows users to review and approve or deny timecard change requests submitted via the Punch In/Out Portal or Employee Self Service > View/Edit Timecards. Employees can view the status of their requests after processing.
Vonage 10DLC Phone Numbers: Phone Number: Stores the 10DLC (10-digit long code) numbers registered for district messaging. Inactive check box: Allows administrators to disable a number without deleting it.
- Selected → Number is inactive and will not be used to send SMS.
- Deselected → Number remains active and available for sending SMS.
