Texas State Assessments

The information provided in this document can be referenced to import the Texas State Assessment (STAAR/TELPAS/TFAR/TTAP) Test Results.

Supported File Formats

Fixed-Width, Comma-delimited

Select Import Settings

  1. While in the File Format step, reference the Preview section to make your selections.
  • If the selected format is Comma-delimited, click Next and continue to step 2.
  • When working with a fixed-width file format:

a. Click the Field Positions button.

b. In the Template pull-down, select one of the available options:

  • State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) Grades 3-8 - Student Results File Converter - Effective Fall 2024
  • State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) End-of-Course (EOC) Assessments (Alternate 2) - Student Results File Converter - Effective Fall 2024
  • State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) End-of-Course (EOC) Assessments - Student Results File Converter - Effective Fall 2024
  • State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) Interim - Student Results File Converter - Effective Fall 2024
  • Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS) Alternate - Student Results File Converter - Effective Fall 2024

c. Click Continue.

2. If the uploaded data does not contain a header row, uncheck the box.

3. Click Next.

4. In the Select Tool step, click the Import File card to enter the import settings:

  • Select the Test History import tool option.
  • Select the desired Import Method.
  • In the Standardized Test pull-down, select the available Texas State Assessment Test option.
  • The Scores Layout pull-down will be automatically set to the appropriate option based on your previous selections, with Test Part & Score Types are combined into one or more columns as the default option.
  • In the Conversion Fields section:
    • For the student_id conversion field, the Texas Unique ID option can be selected.

5. Click Continue.

Map Fields and Validate

Once back in the Select Tool step:

  1. Click Next.
  2. In the Mapping Template step:
    • Choose an existing template, or
    • Manually map the available fields.
  3. Click the Validate button.
  4. Check the validation results and review errors, if any.
  5. To complete the process, click Import.
