For test score import files that include any unique student identifier available in the Focus School Software system, you can leverage the built-in Conversion Fields feature. This feature enables you to bypass the Student Match process entirely and utilize your original extract to import the students' test scores.
To configure these options in the Imports module, navigate to the Conversion Fields settings and locate student_id in the dropdown menu. Once selected, you will see all available conversion options for the Focus School Software unique Student ID. Ensure that the unique identifier - referred to as "FLEID" for demonstration purposes - is listed under the Identifier Column. If it's not available as an option, you can add it by searching for the field and pressing the enter key. Ensure that this option is available for the applicable Import Tools and then save your changes.
With this configuration in place, the next time you perform a Test History import, you'll have the option to modify how the Focus Student ID is converted in the Import File settings modal.
It's worth noting that a different field may be automatically selected by default, but you now have the option to change it and reference a different unique identifier instead.
In this example, by selecting this option, you're matching the values from your file to the existing FLEIDs of your system's students for that specific import. You can always choose a different conversion option for different files.
You'll also be able to identify your selection in the Mapping Template step, where you'll be required to map the student_id field. In this example, we can see that student_id now uses the FLEID as a reference in parentheses.
Importantly, you can have as many conversion field options as needed, and different options can be applied to different imports, depending on the provided data in the file.
